When I was pregnant with my now 14 month old, i would see programs about saving for your child's future... Wait... Now come on... How is anyone, in this economy, suppose to save money for "your child's future"?
We bought our house when Mason was only 6 weeks old. At that time I knew there would be NO WAY we could save money. I shortly realized with a newborn, and the million of bottled waters that we went through (to make baby bottles)....RECYCLE!!!
All the bottled waters, sodas, beer bottles, everything that we would normally just throw out, could be recycled for Mason college fund. I know it's not much now, but something is better than nothing, right?
My husband takes our recycle out about once a month, to our local recycle place, and he usually comes home with about 20 bucks. That money goes directly into one of two of Masons piggy banks. We also add spare change from our pockets or wallets. I have no idea how much money he has, but as soon as one of them are full we'll shop around for a really good savings account.
My mother now contributes to Masons College Fund (with recyclables), and her co-workers are too. Thanks everyone! I hope this makes mothers think about the little things they can do for their children's futures.
